This is a beautifully written novel that very uniquely and cleverly interweaves science and Biblical truth. I love it's CS Lewis-like allegorical fantasy which made it exciting. This book is about Seth and Melissa, the two main characters and the perils they face that require hard choices along the way in their journey and quest for truth and the existence of God. Seth is the harder to please skeptic with his desire to prove everything through science and Melissa wants to know more about faith.I also love how the endearing animals, all with the their own quirky personalities, like the owl, fox, and turtle, are integrated throughout the story to help Seth and Melissa in their adventure and my favorite, though I had a couple, was especially Fox. Her amazing strength for such a gentle and sweet creature was so inspiring to me and made me want to be the same!
This book does such a wonderful job of dealing with the gamut of questions, feelings, fears, struggles that we all have at some point in our lives that it really can be equally for the skeptic or a mature Believer in Christ. I only wish a couple of the characters were in the book more....
Each chapter kept my attention and by the time it got to the end I couldn't believe it had ended! I SO wanted more! I most definitely recommend this book as it's now one of my all time favorites.

J. Suthern Hicks is a friend of mine, and I am acknowledged in this book. He recently told me, to my surprise, that many years ago on one of our walks I inspired him in someway to write such a book. I am not an avid novel or fiction book reader, as I enjoy biographies, non-fiction, philosophic, historical and Christian apologetic types of books. However, I thought that this book was a beautiful and charming way to present Christian apologetics in a creative and non "pushy" manner. I really loved the way Suthern portrayed the characters with all of their flaws and family squabbles. It was very funny and very real....I also loved the way he depicted the animals and nature, and you could feel his love and understanding of them. It made me laugh and cry. I want to know what is going to happen next! I hope he writes it soon!
If I were to give a six word review.....I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL!

Excellent read. I bought this for my Grandchildren but I think I enjoyed it more than them.
Really enjoyed this book. It is great for the whole family. I sure hope this continues with another book because I want to see the characters progress. There is so much more for them to learn!

It is just a delightful and easy read with unique characters and insightful experiences.

Oh My Goodness! This Novel "Where The Garden Begins" Is a must read book and one you just simply can't put down even for a second. Jeff Suthern Hicks is a friend of mine and goes to my Church and he is such a man of God and once you read his book will let's just say that you are going to want to read it over and over again . This book is about faith and trust. And it's a story about if God's really is real. And it makes you think where you stand with you faith in God. And he has written every Character in such detail that your find yourself that you can actually relate to them in some form of your life. I highly recommend this book and give it a 5 star and if you don't have this book yet please get it today and don't delay. I promise you you won't be disappointed, but just the opposite you will be truly blessed. This book is not just for teenagers but adults as well. And I believe that there will be a continuous book for this story is far from over. Combines reality and fantasy that will appeal to young readers. The book holds one's interest with its live trees and talking bugs and had me wondering how it would all end. It also manages to interject explanations of the Bible's miracles, such as that of creation, with scientific theory about how the universe began. I thought the ending did not disappoint, and made me realize that there were many lessons in growing up in the story, so I would recommend this as a good book for young readers. .
